Sweet (And Fried) Bliss!

On our way home from Georgetown, we had to stop at a rogue Cane's that we passed on the way up in Charleston. Merritt ate like a lumberjack and has talked about it every day since!

Feeling Crabby...

You've gotta love living this close to the May River! Instead of bugs getting in the house (which we get plenty of), we had a little crab in the house this morning! We caught him and set him free on a pile of damp oak leaves. Cutie Pie was disappointed... I was not.

Hmmm... Jason was watching "Deadliest Catch" so maybe he was just trying to see the latest episode.

A Weekend in Historic Georgetown

We came up after school on Friday to visit Jason in Georgetown, SC as they were wrapping up their 2nd tournament. It's a neat little historic town (the area was settled in 1526) and it is right on the Atlantic. We visited the beach today and toured the historic district (along with the South Carolina Maritime Museum).

My new favorite...

I'm always trying to find new ways to make "laundry day" (which is a misnomer, as it's never just one day) a little more enticing. We were watching one of our favorite shows last week and Merritt commented on how Big Bang Theory's Sheldon does laundry so quickly and neatly. Sheldon is an OCD doctoral theoretical physicist bachelor, so the amount of laundry that he's responsible for combined with his genius skill in efficiency puts him and I in different domestic categories, BUT I do love the folding board that he uses. Here's to you, Dr. Sheldon Cooper!

I Hate to Tempt Fate, BUT...

...we may have a house! We walked away from the short sale that wasted 5 precious months of our lives and looked at a neighborhood that we've browsed in before. Check out the neighborhood at www.oldfield1732.com... We'll keep you posted on the progress (or lack of)! Fingers crossed!!!

This is the same plan (the Sugarberry) in a community just North of Bluffton. The house that we have under contract is very, very similar, but lighter shutters, no railing and the porch wraps all the way around the front. The landscaping is a bit different, too with no retaining wall or parking so close to the front. It does include an outdoor fireplace on the screened in porch (seen below).

Killin' Time...

From time to time, Kohl asks me if he can play on my phone when we're doing something that is less than exciting to him. We benefit mutually, as he gets entertainment and I get photos like these:

Tennis Tourney (kind of...)

Merritt joined her Tuesday afternoon girl's tennis group for a little tennis tournament and had a blast!
She did absolutely awesome and is ready for her next tournament this weekend in Beaufort!

Merritt and her awesome coach, Coach Warren!

Merritt Joins Pony Club...

Pony Club... that name makes it sound so cute and playful. Well, after our first meeting, I wouldn't describe the amazing young women that are jumping 5' high jumps and fallen trees all at a full speed gallop as such. Merritt had an amazing full day learning about every aspect of what is "her sport." It was amazing and I learned just as much. She's becoming more and more comfortable with pushing herself to new levels (gulp) and focusing on the tiny skills that will help her in Dressage. It's all so very complex, but she loves it and can't wait until summer so she will have more time to spend at the barn!

This is Cairo (that's our precious Oscar in the background) after a good walk, trot, canter lesson.
Yes, Cairo is the same spunky Arabian that Merritt came off of last summer. She's forgiven him...

Kohl is a Bookworm (Rather, a Caterpillar)

Kohl has been bitten by the reading bug! He spends every free moment in the car or before he goes to sleep working his way through his latest chapter book! He was in a little play in his Reader's Theatre group and did a great job as a caterpillar (notice the hat and antennae). We're super proud of that fella!

Just another Thursday...

Merritt made her second trek to Sheldon for a lesson with Ms. Gini and our beloved Oscar. Oscar's "real name" is Academy Award but he goes by the less glamorous nickname. We spent most of the afternoon and early evening there and Merritt even had 2 little trail rides with Ms. Gini on JJ
(aka Mr. Jangles) between the barn and the arena. A long, but productive and fun afternoon!

Merritt loves wearing this shirt when she rides Oscar... notice the similarity?

Cheeeeese! Merritt comes from the barn on Oscar and Ms. Gini on (teeny tiny) JJ.
Merritt and Oscar making tracks! They looked great trotting, cantering and having fun.
